šŸŽ® What is This?

Do you want to build a full FNAF-1 style game in GDevelop 5 without touching code? With real AI levels, real mechanics, and real structure?

This is the ultimate Five Nights at Freddy’s 1-style template, rebuilt completely from scratch in GDevelop 5 and designed specifically for beginner developers who want to create their own FNAF-style games easily and professionally.

Whether you're just starting out or you're building your 10th fangame, this template gives you a powerful base to start. With authentic AI Levels, accurate mechanics, and fully original features, this is the closest you'll get to the original game without touching a line of code.

🧠 Built to Replicate, Designed to Expand

  • Everything players expect from a real FNAF game: camera system, office mechanics, ambience, easter eggs, unlocks (like plushies & radar map), and much more!
  • Dozens of amazing features: camera system, office mechanics, ambience, easter eggs, unlocks (like plushies & radar map), and much more!
  • Jumpscares, transitions, and menus redesigned for a premium feel
  • Doors, lights, power usage, and even Phone Guy calls, all faithfully recreated!
  • Includes Night 6 and a fully-working Custom Night mode!
  • Authentic AI difficulty (1-20). Tuned to feel like the original FNAF 1!
  • All 5 animatronics follow the same routes and behavior patterns as the original FNAF 1

Unlike most FNAF templates that rely on dozens of bloated scenes and duplicated logic, this template runs the entire core game using just ONE Office Scene and ONE Cameras Monitor Scene.

This architecture massively improves performance, reduces bugs, and makes the project far easier to understand, modify, and expand. Animatronic AI, power usage, camera logic, jumpscares, and progression are all centralized and structured, not scattered across endless scenes.

This results in faster load times, cleaner logic, easier customization, and a template that actually scales as your game grows.

āš™ļø The Code: Clean, Commented & Creator-Friendly

Forget messy event sheets and confusing logic. Every mechanic is organized in clean and tidy user-friendly Drag and Drop code, with Event Groups and Custom Comments that explain what each part does.

No coding required. If you can swap images and sounds, you can build your own FNAF fangame.

šŸš€ How Can I Use It?

This template is made for you to build your own fangames, tributes, or original creations.

You can:

  • Replace assets and voice lines with your own
  • Adjust AI values and difficulty
  • Add, remove or modify animatronics and cameras
  • Add cinematics, minigames, easter eggs, unlockable secrets, alternative endings, anything!
  • Customize the UI and gameplay as much as you want
  • Export your fangame to multiple platforms: HTML5 (Web), Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux!

Perfect for jam games, passion projects, or full releases. Already used as the base for 20+ released FNAF-inspired games!

šŸ“œ Licensing & Legal Info

  • You CAN use this template to make and publish your own fan games.
  • You CAN sell your finished game, as long as you use your own original assets (no copyrighted FNAF content).
  • You DON'T have to put my name or credit me in your game
  • You CAN'T redistribute or resell this template as-is

šŸ› ļø Engine & Compatibility

This template was made in GDevelop 5, a free, open-source, no-code game engine. It works perfectly for both PC and Mobile. Source Code includes the source .json file, images, sounds, fonts, and documentation. Using this template and the GDevelop 5 engine, you can export your fangame to multiple platforms and publish it anywhere.

The boring part of rebuilding FNAF from scratch is over.

Build it on a foundation that already works!

the animatronics don't move in the first 6 nights and only start to move around properly when using custom night, how do i fix it

Weird! I tried to adjust the AI levels to make them accurate to the original FNAF but maybe they are still so low lol. Try tweaking them in the AI Levels event group!

how do i import the game i just bought it and i have no idea what to do can i get a step by step tutorial

Hi! First, unzip the folder you downloaded. Then open the GDevelop 5 app, click Open a project, and select the .json file inside the unzipped folder. That’s it! The project will load immediately. From there you can replace assets, edit scenes, add menus, change difficulties, etc.

Hi! No worries at all. You can change everything inside the Events of the Office scene For the AI Levels, look for the event group called ā€œAI Levels Change as Time Passesā€ and tweak the variable values there For the length of each in-game hour, adjust the events that use the ā€œNightTimeā€ variable If you need help with anything else, just tell me. And if the template was useful, a star rating would mean a lot!

Foxy doesn't seem to work? He just ends up infinitely running in the West Hall without returning to the cove.

how do i import this into gdevelop?

Hi! U need to open the .json file with the ā€œOpen a projectā€ button in GDevelop

is there a way that you could send photos (like a tutorial) to help me bc im kinda stuck 😭

Hello, How do I export my fangame on gdevelop? I get an error message not allowing me to export the files, something along the lines of that it's not registered and the owner has to give permission.

Hi! That’s really weird, never happened to me before. I honestly have no idea. I’d suggest maybe taking screenshots and asking on the GDevelop forum

(+1)

I fixed it! By removed the UUID line in the json. Perhaps a new thing they check now? Idk, but that does fix it

Glad you were able to figure out the issue! If you’ve finished your fangame, feel free to share a link - I’d love to check it out. And if you’re enjoying the template, a review would be greatly appreciated!

how do you import the assets? When I open the file on Gdevelop it doesnt have any of the images

Hi! Are you sure the files downloaded correctly? Normally, the assets should already be on the template

(+2)

I'm still new to this, how do I get the whole thing into GDevelop? I can only get FNAF1.json in.  Your instructions say "Open it with the GDevelop 5 App" but that's not an option for anything but the json file.

Hi! Yep, you have to open the project file (the .json) with the GDevelop 5 app. Once you have the project, you can start changing assets and adding new features. I recommend you watch some Youtube tutorials if you are not familiar with the engine

How would I go about adding audio for phone calls/the kitchen room?

Deleted 286 days ago

Hey! Just wanted to let you know that I’ve completely remade the template—everything is way more polished now, and it includes working Phone Guy calls and a ton of improvements across the board (AI, lights, Night 6, Animatronics movement paths, etc.). Thanks again for your previous feedback! It really helped shape this new update. If you get a chance to try out the latest version, I’d love to hear what you think.

would you be able to make it a standalone app

so you don't have to use GDevlop?

Maybe i can do something like that! GDevelop is a free and easy open-source game engine tho

I think I'm dumb because no matter how many videos I watch u still don't know how to use it. :(

(+1)
